Project Accountant - Full Time
With a large portfolio of active projects across 9 major market sectors throughout Illinois and the surrounding states, Connelly Electric, Co. is one of the leading design build electrical contractors in the Chicagoland area. Connelly Electric is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Project Accountant who excels at multitasking. This individual will perform a variety of accounting, administrative and other functions as required in supporting projects and the business. The ideal candidate will have a construction background and will work well independently to provide overall project accounting support for multiple projects.
Essential Duties
- Effectively communicate with Project Managers and support staff regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications
- Enter change requests into the accounting system and maintain up-to-date project cost information
- Prepare and submit all project-related billings to customers using AIA Forms
- Enter billings into third party applications as needed - Textura, GC Pay, etc.
- Prepare, request, and maintain waivers, affidavits, and collections for assigned projects
- Monitor and assist Project Manager with project-related expenses, investigating invoice discrepancies and all project expenses not billed to customers
- Communicate with customer regarding unpaid contract billings
- Monitor and update project projections weekly with Project Managers
- Create subcontract agreements for Project Managers
- Request insurance certificates from subcontractors
- Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management
- Report on project profitability to management
- Close out project accounts upon project completion
- Create and provide various reports related to projects
- Compile information for internal and external audits, as required
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Engineering, CommunicationsÂ
- 5+ years of Construction Accounting experience preferred
- Effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees, suppliers, and customers
- Ability to read and understand various AP and JC reports in order to resolve any discrepancies
- Must be able to prioritize in a fast-paced, multi-task environment
- High-level attention to detail
